SPCA Tshwane recently reunited a dog that went missing almost a year ago with its owner.

Alex Ko Foko adopted his beloved Snoopy from the SPCA in December 2017. After a year, Snoppy dug a hole under his owner’s fence and ran out of their complex.

“The family drove around the area many times to look for Snoopy, and also put up notices but with no luck,” said SPCA Tshwane spokesperson Elsa Daniels.

On 3 September 2019, Foko received a phone call from an SPCA staffer informing him that his dog has been brought in by a member of the public, who found it on a smallholding in the Bashewa area.

“We were so surprised and happy when we received a call from the SPCA, saying that Snoopy was found. He was lost for almost one year. We didn’t think that we would ever find him again,” Foko said.

The SPCA Tshwane would like to give the public tips for when a pet goes missing.

Make sure you send a coloured photo of your pet to reception@spcapta.org.za. In the email please include:

– Your name and contact details

– The area where your pet got lost

– Your pet’s name

– The breed, age and colour

– The gender and if the animal was sterilised

– Any unusual markings

– Any identification (Collar and tag, microchip or tattoo)

Visit both of the Tshwane SPCA branches to complete the necessary forms and to walk through the kennels.
