BREED FACT: The French Bulldog appeared in England, and first shown there, around the turn of the 20th century.
This is a sturdy little Bulldog with large, erect, rounded, bat ears, a flat, powerful muzzle and a pug nose. The square flat head is not as massive as the English Bulldog's. The forehead is rounded. Height doesn't matter as long as the dog is well balanced. The height at the withers should be approximately the same as the length from withers to tail set. The dog should be pear-shaped, with the shoulders wider than the tail area. The short, soft, easy-care coat comes in brindle, fawn, white and combinations of brindle or fawn with white. The skin is soft and fairly loose, making the dog very pleasant to pet. The prominent round eyes are dark colored and the
bite is undershot. The tail is either straight or cork-screw.

I contacted breeders, the average price is R9000-R12000. Try "Malliki" breeders great breeder, gives you a lot of useful information. Anything around R2000-R4000 is a possible scam.

Hi All your desperate people looking for a frenchie.....hold on their was to my knowlege so far this past 9 months 17 frenchies that was imported by private persons that will start breeding here by the end of the year and puppies will start to go to new homes next year...kisanja is not the only french breeders. Just be patient.

I got a quote for R12000 , but the guy doesnt have pics nor a website and hasnt replied sice. non of the breeders i found have websites and they also dont want to tell me when pups will be born they also dont want to give me prices . I tried www.showdogs.co.za
for breeders , and on there one replied but she only got pups now and will start breeding in 2 years. also no response on the going rate for a pup.

I also contacted Kassinja, but the waiting period is quite long (12-18months), and although I wouldn't mind completing the form, I don't feel comfortable completing it, as no price is given beforehand. I also thought the East London people are way too dodgy. Classes for dog training lessons start end of the year, so I hope we can get our puppies before then. Does anyone know why reputable breeders do not want to give prices beforehand?

We have also been looking for a frenchie pup. I have been in contact with two 'breeders' but both seemed very dodgy and although they advertised the pups in Jhb, they then told me one was based in East London and the other in Kimberly but that they would fly the dog up for an extra R300.. After google mapping their 'addresses' (both middle of nowhere) and just based on the dodgy feelings we had (they were very forward in their emails and pushy, no question was answered negatively making it all a little too perfect, they happened to be exactly 8 weeks when I contacted although the ad had been up for ages etc..) we decided against it. The only seemingly reputable site I have found is http://kassinja.hypermart.net/Frenchies.htm and it hasn't been updated since 2009, so I'm not too sure. I have contacted them and if they reply I will post up any info I get. Seems none of us are destined to get our little pups, we want/wanted to name ours Humphrey haha

Also dumb struck to find that ALL the "french bulldogs for sale" adds I tried today are scams. After long deliberation and reading up by me and my husband, this is the dog breed we agreed on. Now we can't find any! So, if anyone can assist: We would love to have a male and female. Any colour as long as they can have pups in future and not be brother and sister???
